May your ‘silliness’ continue unabated! I instantly fell in love with how you’ve done this ‘story’. I agree, Picasa has some wonderful aspects – including it’s simplicity 🙂

Love these ! Hard to pick a favourite. Two and five really caught my eye. The set of B&W images remind of the original 1922 Nosferatu movie. The first Red Tea suggests the movie posters and magazine covers of the 20’s & 30’s. H.P. Lovecraft, I presume ? 🙂
Your comment to Nia about the photograph reminds of how I view digital photography. There are no bad pieces. They are all useful, even if the composition is not up to expectations. If the basic compositional elements are there, then using texture & effects can emphasize the strength, while diminishing the inherent weakness. At worst elements or qualities of the image can be used in some manner with another image, either a layered texture/colour or incorporated as a component into the another image.
We think of all this manipulation as new. I have a link on my blog to photo-tampering throughout history. One of the photos is of President Lincoln’s generals., problem was they were not all present for the photograph. Then performed an 1800’s photo-shop to insert the missing general.

I never knew that. I will come to see the link on your blog. I laugh at myself when I get mixed up in PhotoShop Pro and totally lose my image! Forget layers and rasters and all of that. I have no concept of any of it. I suppose if I wanted to know badly enough, I’d figure it out. I have a difficult enough time getting a photograph that is remotely in focus!! I should be grateful if I can do that still. Thanks for the information. You always encourage me!

I am playing, too. I did get the update the other day, but don’t know that I have everything that you do…can’t find some of the things that you have appear to have done…maybe just need to look and experiment further. 🙂

All I do is apply one effect on top of another and try different combos until I get one I like. Light and shadow application helps along with color boost. What do I know? I’m laughing at myself for even suggesting anything about this. Just experiment. If you got the update with the special effects, all of this is there.

Yep! 🙂 When you do, you’ll find what works best without so many layers. I use a lot of tint and darkening and lightening and color boost.

I used the color boost with the old ore company buildings and liked the way they turned out…and often use the shadows to take down the light a bit…and then “warmify” a bit, too.

as i scrolled down, using the small screen of my laptop, “Out of Nowhere” seemed to move! VERY cool effect! Lovely photos!

Thanks, Linda. There is a Part II of this silliness. I haven’t posted it yet. I’m playing with some of the features of the free graphics program, Picasa. You can download it at http://www.picasa.com. It’s actually a good, very simple program that you can use to lighten, straighten and generally fix up your photos. Download it and play with it.

You are involved in serious work, Michael. I am simply playing. I have no idea how to do a blog roll. I like having a clean space on my page. I don’t know a single person here who is not interesting and does not post fascinating stuff. I am constantly amazed that there are so many wonderfully creative people in the world! That alone makes me feel really good since I live mostly separated from any intellectually stimulating segment of society.

You know I am playing with the Picasa program and having a good time at it. I will tire of it soon, but it has been fun. I did what I think is a great photograph of Boy in that program. It is a photograph that I thought was for the trash heap. Now, I love it. I will post it soon. We find interesting things in the most unlikely ways, don’t we? I am reminded of your fascinating rendition of the rose! I do love those photographs!
