Short-Timer

Today, I am seventy-two years old.

In military jargon, I am a Short-Timer.

Maybe in Jail jargon, too.

At any rate, I’m in a hurry.

Got stuff to do

And

Photograph to take

Before the Shadow catches up to me.

Thank you to all of you who cheer me along!

I appreciate it very much.

  1. Congrats! I’m a May girl, too. Such a clever image and text. I hate to say it but I know the feeling of that pressure. Shimon’s comment is so thoughtful, as usual – I’m with him – it’s all relative. You seem to be having a great year so far! I wish you many more.

  2. Ha ha, short-timer… Well, some short-timers say they are so short they don’t even cast a shadow. You have a nice long reach there… I think you’re in pretty good shape. πŸ™‚

  6. A very Happy Birthday to you George. I’m not much ‘into’ birthdays myself … sort of feel like they’re more for the very-much-younger folks. Having said that though, birthdays are (for me) a time to stop and to recognize those who belong to your ‘circle.’ You have, over the last couple of years, been very much part of my ‘circle,’ so stopping, on this very important day, to recognize that fact is important. Keep doing what you’re doing … D (+J)

  13. At least I don’t have to feel guilty about remembering your birthday. Happy Birthday! All the best and a toast to all the birthdays to come.

    • Hi, Victor! I wouldn’t remember my own birthday if Kelli and Charlie and my sister didn’t tell me. My mother used to miss it every year. I called her every birthday and never mentioned that it was my birthday. It got to be a joke between us. I guess the event was so horrific that she blanked it out! At least, that’s what I told her and she never denied it. Chuckle… So, I think you’d certainly have little reason to feel guilty! πŸ™‚ Thanks for the good wishes!

    • Thank you for the kind wishes! I just saw your lovely pepper! Now, that’s a success story. I used to grow them in the garden. The plant in the pot looks very healthy, although I didn’t realize anybody grew them in containers. Fun projects! πŸ™‚

      • I didn’t know either that you could grow them in pots I just saw it on You tube.
I’d probably need to re-pot it in a much bigger one if I want any proper ones to grow πŸ™‚
In the end of 2013 I got into a phase of taking any pit or seed that could grow & did it without thinking, I wasn’t risking much… the whole family loves to see things growing besides, I think it’s healthy & educative for the kids.
I don’t know how my apple trees will grow further on, some don’t pick up but I’ve got a Kiwi growing well for the moment, a Litchi a Pomegranate a lemon shoot a citrus one too… my pineapple is not really picking up, I’ve been having a hard time with it & I’ve tried it a few time, my kitchen is probably not warm enough.
You win some & you lose some but it’s very gratifying πŸ™‚
        thanks for this feedback!

  14. Haha >>>>> HAPPY BIRTHDAY YESTERDAY, GEORGE! I hope you had a very good day, my dear! I absolutely love the picture – its unconventional, you’ve gone out on a limb, and I wish there were more pictures around like this one!

Yes, stuff to do and photos to take – the Shadow’s way behind you, nowhere near you, right now. And its a real pleasure to “cheer you along”, my friend – and to that end, something will be on its way to you in a couple of weeks or so – I’ll email you before its despatched πŸ˜‰ ……

    • Thank you so much for the good wishes and for your wonderful encouragement, always. I don’t mind going out on the limb if I can just remember not to saw it off behind me! Chuckle… You are too kind, Adrian. I will be happy to receive your dispatched good wishes parcel! πŸ˜‰

  15. I like the picture. And best wishes for a very happy day, and another year filled with adventure and learning; a year of health and happiness and love. Age is a very relative thing. The same age can be so different when viewed as far ahead, approaching, or looking back. Looking back at your age now, it’ll seem very solid, I’m sure.
