As anybody who has been in South Texas for more than thirty days says, Un pequito mas, and holds up a finger and the thumb to make the sign of a tiny bit more. Thus, the title of this post. I couldn’t resist sharing my encounter with you. This time, Mr. Anole was jumping from one stem to another so I knew right away that he was alive … for sure. There was a steady breeze with fairly strong gusts, but he rode two limbs like a tightrope walker in a storm. Cool as a cucumber, that Mr. Anole.
He looked directly at me and waited for me to fetch Little Lumix. The blossoms put him in a fine mood, no doubt. If I weren’t so deaf, I bet I could have heard him singing as he was swinging back and forth!
I was excited to see Mr. Anole again. And, I was grinning from ear to ear when I realized that I actually captured a photograph of him.
All is well in the Garden.
Hasta mañana!
Wonderful shots, George. He looks like he posed for you! Such lovely color and clarity.

I am on your blog now. Looking at your photograph of what looks like a trumpet-like flower. It’s SPECTACULAR! It looks like the beautiful Victorian botanical representations done by the ladies in their parlors as they studied. Truly impressive work. Your drawings fascinate me too.

You capture Mr. Anole beautifully, b-but…um, see, reptiles just creep me out. Waaaah! I know he’s one of nature’s innocent beasts but still…I think those eyes and that lopsided grin got something evil planned!

He’s so tiny that he couldn’t execute an evil plan if he concocted one! 🙂 Thanks for your visit. You made me smile! 🙂

Thanks, Pablo. I thought I replied to this… Duh, I guess I’m getting senile! The little lizards scared me when they jumped out of the flowers when we first moved here, but I got used to them. They will jump right onto you in their hurry to escape. They are harmless.

What I don’t understand is how, with all of the different disabilities that you say that you have (and I’m beginning to have doubts about those) you manage to take such wonderful photos. These are brilliant, George.

Thanks, Marilyn. I set my camera on high resolution and do a lot of cropping to get down to the image I want. I take lots of photos that are out of focus, but I get lucky sometimes and get a few in focus. I use a vibration reduction lens on the Nikon and the Lumix had vibration reduction built into the camera to control a good amount of camera shake. So far, I manage, on a good day. I got lucky with the lizard. I can no longer manage macro shots because the range of focus on the lens ring is too narrow for a shaky hand. You can’t imagine how thrilled I am when I get lucky and snap a photo that is in focus. I snap an unbelievable number that are not.
I am grateful for the ones I can get and even more grateful that people like you enjoy them!
Thanks again, Lady D! 🙂

Thanks, Soma! The Anoles are harmless little things. They used to scare me to death when they jumped out of the foliage when I was working in the garden. I got used to them and now I like them. You can’t see the prehistoric looking detail in real life. They just look like nice little green creatures. I can understand having an aversion to them though. Glad you like the Gravatar. It’s friendlier looking anyway. 🙂
Hugs from the lady in the picture! 🙂

Thanks, Tots. If you see a middle-aged Asian looking dude hanging around in the compound, that would be Victor Ho. He recently took a job as head of neurosurgery in a hospital in KSA and lives in a compound somewhere. Sounds just like the one you’ve got yourself confined to. I asked if he were sure it isn’t a prison compound! You two are likely to get yourselves in some kind of custody, for sure! 🙂 Victor is the photographer of Photobackstory. He’s down the page here somewhere. Behave yourself. Isn’t it just typical of Americans to think that two people they know who are in the same country are really in the same place! Ha Ha. Victor is rambling around in a four-BR apartment that he shares with some gekos. On arrival, there were not towels. He was air-drying…inside, I hope. Read his account at Photobackstory. He’s a sweet man. You’ll like him if you don’t already know him. 🙂

Thanks for Victor’s info. I’ll definitely have to check him out. I met someone in neurosurgery when I met the ambassador but he wasn’t Asian. Interesting that you know two people crazy enough to come here. I have one villa mate. Glad it’s not more than one. I told my manager I had to find another villa mate or I would end up punching the sh* * outta the one I was living with.

I couldn’t believe I knew two morons who would sign up for such a tour of duty in a desert halfway around the globe either. Victor is chief of neurosurgery at IMC. That place is like a palace. Marble everywhere and beautiful architecture. The blog where he posts about KSA is called ImagedEvent. He could use some help getting his bearings since he just got there a week ago or something. You guys get together. Who knows, you might need to hike out of there. 🙂

Thank you, Lori. I noticed that you have been my faithful visitor at The Fuzzy Foto, and I appreciate it! I have no idea what I’m doing, but I like having somewhere to drop off my shaky photos. The hilarious thing is that people liked my shakiest one…the doctored-up photo of the fruit on the Loquat tree. “Art” is definitely in the eye of the beholder! Ha Ha. Your beautiful face is bound to draw all kinds of flies in search of honey to the Foto blog! Perhaps I will copy your Gravatar, post it, and claim it as my own! 😉 I love it. I’ll be back over to visit the guest from The View soon! 🙂

He’s one cool character. You have a Lizzie? My introduction to the Anoles came when I moved to Texas in 1976. They scared the crap out of me at first before I found out that they are harmless and nice enough to eat mosquitoes! Thanks for the visit and the comment too. You are kind to do it. 🙂

Thank you, Myra! I held my breath while I did my old St. Vitus number with the camera! But, I got him … by some Photo God … or other! I have a troublesome tremor in my right hand that’s downright inconvenient. That’s why I titled my other blog, “The Fuzzy Foto”! Once, I snapped a photo and pressed the button to look at it on the little camera. I got a message in the display saying, “Unable to read from video file!” I guess the dang thing thought I was trying to video something! Lord, how I laughed about that! Thanks for liking Mr. Anole.

The pictures are breathtaking…..You are becoming quite the professional my friend,. I love the lizards….all of them. I am loving my birds and squirrels too and would love to get some good squirrel pictures, and have captured a few but those little creatures are so fast and have such good ears that a decent close shot is beyond my clumsy fat ass. Enjoyed as usual.
LikeLike
Sue, your camera will capture those squirrels in mid-air! You need to set a fast shutter speed or choose the action option or sports or whatever. Increase the aperture and shutter speeds if you aren’t in bright light. Your camera is not set correctly. If it were, you’d be getting flying squirrels all day long and birds stop-action shots too. Get that thing adjusted just for the capture Sue’s babies in action mode. And leave it along and shoot in the same light every time so you get the same result. I’m too shaky to much so I have to compensate!
I’m glad you like my Anole! Thanks!

He’s just like the ones you pulled the tails off as a kid. I mean, caught them by the tails and they came off. The little green ones. He was cute swinging on two vines at once. Of course, you know you can’t see the detail on them with the naked eye. I’m always amazed at what we can’t see that our cameras can see!
